It defines where the title, supporting text, photo, logo and slide number go, and which colors and fonts each part uses. A good template accepts text of different lengths without breaking and adapts to each format, from 4:5 to 9:16. Using templates is what allows publishing every day with consistency without redoing the design from scratch.
