4:5 format

The vertical ratio of the Instagram feed, 1080 by 1350 pixels: it takes more screen than the square.

What is 4:5 format?

The 4:5 format is the portrait ratio the Instagram feed allows: 1080 pixels wide by 1350 tall. It takes about 25 percent more screen than the 1:1 square and is the default format for carousels and single posts today. In the profile grid, Instagram crops the 4:5 for display, so important content should stay away from the top and bottom edges. LinkedIn also accepts 4:5 for images and TikTok uses it for photo posts. It is the first format to produce; the others derive from it.

In Murify

The 4:5 is the first of the three formats of every Murify post. The 1:1 and 9:16 come from the same script with the layout recomposed, not cropped.
