9:16 format

The full-screen vertical ratio, 1080 by 1920 pixels, used for stories, Reels, TikTok and Shorts.

What is 9:16 format?

The 9:16 format is the ratio of a phone screen held upright: 1080 pixels wide by 1920 tall. It is the format of stories, Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts, and the only one that fills the entire screen. Because it is consumed with the app’s interface on top, it requires respecting the safe zone, with text and logo away from the top and bottom. Converting a 4:5 post to 9:16 by stretching or cropping is the most common mistake: the right way is to recompose, with the photo filling the screen and the text repositioned. A good story is a post remade, not resized.

In Murify

Every Murify post also comes out in 9:16, with the template redistributing photo and text for the story, inside the safe zone, ready to publish or save to a highlight.
