A word with # in the caption that classifies the post and makes it findable in the network’s search.

What is Hashtag?

A hashtag is a subject label: the word after the # becomes a link to every post with the same tag. It helps the network classify the content and helps people find the post through search. The weight of hashtags on reach has dropped in recent years, and Instagram recommends a few specific ones instead of thirty generic ones. What works today is using hashtags that actually describe the post, mixing niche terms with broader ones.
